and The African-American Read In (AARI) will be upon us.
Two month long events that seem to get swept under the radar.
Most especially AARI which will be celebrating it's twenty-eighth year.
The African-American Read In began in 1990 and was sponsored by the
Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English.
In 1991, the National Council of Teachers of English joined in the sponsorship.
An African American Read In is an event held during the month of February
Schools, churches, libraries, bookstores, community and professional organizations, and interested citizens are urged to make literacy a
significant part of Black History Month by hosting and coordinating both public and private Read-Ins in their communities.
